He left to California in 1979 to pursue undergraduate premed studies at Loyola Marymount University. He was a fraternity member, served as president of the fraternity for 2 semesters, and received academic honors from his fraternity. Also at Loyola, he played rugby with the state champion Loyola Lions. He graduated Loyola magna cum laude in 1983.
He then returned to his roots, in Omaha, for a medical education. Coincidentally, he met his future wife Dr. Linda Alvarez-Thull in medical school. He graduated Creighton Medical School in 1987 in the top 20%. He continued in Omaha for 5 years of Orthopedic training, graduating in 1992.
Dr Thull then went to Seattle Washington for a subspecialty fellowship in hand surgery. He finally made it back to Scottsdale in 1993. And began private practice in Orthopedics and hand surgery.
David and Linda married in 1994, when Linda returned to Scottsdale from her fellowship training in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Besides practicing medicine David and Linda enjoy their 4 dogs, exploring the desert, jet skiing and traveling. Other hobbies include regular weight and fitness training. As with any good orthopedic surgeon he is mechanically inclined and enjoys working on his own vehicles, and metal work.
To deliver more efficient care, Dr Thull has recently transitioned into solo practice. He practices cutting edge surgery including arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques. He is a member in good standing at both Scottsdale Healthcare Hospitals, and also operates at a free standing surgical center in Phoenix. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Association for Hand Surgery.
The new office is also paperless. This allows him to access your records from off-site if an emergency should occur.
